Spirulina
Due to declining demand for Spirulina we have been forced to close our Spirulina production for this year.
Commercial Spirulina harvest will available in 2013.

What is Spirulina?
Spirulina Platensis is a motile multicellular filamentous blue-green algae, which occurs naturally in the highly alkaline volcanic lakes of Africa and Mexico. The name “Spirulina” is derived from the Latin word for “helix” or “spiral”, referring to the physical configuration of the organism when it forms swirling, microscopic strands.
Even though it is single-celled, Spirulina is relatively large, attaining sizes of 0.5 millimetres in length. Furthermore, the prolific reproductive capacity of the cells and their proclivity to adhere in colonies makes Spirulina a large and easily gathered plant mass. Spirulina is one of the blue-green algae due to the presence of both chlorophyll (green) and phycocyanin (blue) pigments in its cellular structure. Even though Spirulina is distantly related to the kelp algae, it is not a sea plant.
This 3,5 billion-year-old organism has emerged as one of the most complete sources of nutrition on earth, because it has the remarkable ability to convert sun energy into vital substances!
The value of Spirulina does not only depend on the identification and presence of individual substances, but rather on the combined synergistic effect of all these substances together, many of which probably still needs to be identified.
