Phycocyanin is a natural blue pigment for use in the food and cosmetic industries. Natural blue pigments are rarely found in nature and therefore a much sough-after commodity. 

Phycocyanin is however not only a pigment, but has functional beneficial properties including immune enhancement, anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant.

Phycocyanin is being used into a UV-protection cream. Phycocyanin has strong anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, as well as replacing synthetic blue colorant in cosmetics.
